Method

⚠ NO METHOD IS WRITTEN ON THE SHEET. It is an ingredient list only. ⚠ not stated on the card. Blending is the obvious reading and it is not written in.

Notes

This is the one item in the batch that nobody copied from anywhere. Everything else in this run of scans is either a family standard or a manufacturer's card written out by hand. This is somebody inventing — two Halloween monster cereals, a flavoured instant cappuccino mix, half a banana and two squirts of chocolate syrup, worked out on a sheet torn out of a spiral notebook. It reads like a kid or a teenager at the kitchen counter in October.

Boo Berry and Franken Berry are General Mills seasonal monster cereals, which is what fixes it to Halloween and also makes it undatable — they have come round every autumn since 1971.

The faint "marshmellow" lower down is written in noticeably lighter pencil, separated from the list by a gap. Whether it is a later addition to this recipe, a false start, or a note for something else entirely is not determinable from the page, and it is recorded here as what it is — a word on the sheet — rather than folded into the ingredient list.

publish: needs-review for three reasons: no method, two unquantified ingredients, and the marshmallow question. None of them is a reason to hold it back permanently — it is a genuine family recipe and a better piece of the record than half the pie cards. It just needs a person to say how it was made.

The sheet is torn from a spiral binding along the top, creased in quarters, and stained. It lived in a pocket or a drawer, not a recipe box.
